PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (RTV6) -- A Putnam County coach and school board member are facing felony charges after they were involved in a bar fight in Iowa, officials said.

Iowa police said the men were involved in a late-night fight Nov. 3 that sent one victim to the hospital.

Brian Asbury is on the Cloverdale Community School Board of Trustees and Steve Livingston is the varsity wrestling coach at Cloverdale High School. The men were in Iowa to pick up wrestling mats.

Court documents said one victim was beaten so badly that the victim’s eye was bloody and appeared to be hanging out of its socket.

Prosecutors said the victim has undergone one surgery and may need at least two more.

Asbury was arrested that night on a misdemeanor assault charge and was released after he bonded out of jail.

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies served Livingston a warrant and arrested him Monday. He was also released on bond.

Prosecutors in Iowa said Asbury admitted to hitting both victims repeatedly, while Livingston denied hitting anyone.

Livingston has been placed on administrative leave.

The two men face a felony charge of willful injury in Iowa. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

Asbury has a criminal record including pleading guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated in 2012 and failing a drug screen while on probation in 2013.

Superintendent Carrie Milner said the case is under investigation and if the charges are substantiated, they will handle the matter according to state law.
