Indiana Asks Counties to Cut Back On Water Usage

Indiana (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – The Hoosier State is stepping in, and asking counties to conserve water.

The drought is clearly getting worse. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is asking high-capacity water facilities, like Fort Wayne City Utilities and Aqua Indiana, to implement voluntary water conservation measures.

In the state, 32 counties will be asked to cut back, and they will be given plans that identify which steps need to be taken to ensure water shortages don't create an emergency.

Water utilities will be asked to cut back their intake from aquifers, rivers and more. They are being asked to cut their water use by as much as 10 to 15 percent.

How will this impact the services? That is still un-known.
