WHITLEY COUNTY, Ind. (21Alive) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a possible drowning of a 2-year old in Whitley County.

At approximately 1:40 p.m. Saturday the Whitley Co. Sheriff’s Department dispatch received a 911 call reporting a possible drowning at 8009 West 300 South. Emergency units responded and discovered family members performing CPR on a 2-year old male. The child, not a resident at this address, was transported to Parkview Whitley Hospital by ambulance where he was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m.

While outside with family members at this residence, the child was discovered to be missing only minutes after last being seen. An immediate search of the property by the family members led to the discovery of the boy submerged, but partially visible, in a small pond a short distance from where he was last seen.

The incident is under investigation by Indiana Conservation Officer's and the Whitley County Coroner's Office.
