Kendallville, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Officials with Johnson Controls says it is closing up shop in Kendallville leaving 170 people without jobs just two years after the city gave the company a tax abatement.
Last month a furniture manufacturer announced they were shutting their doors in Noble County putting around 50-people out of work.
In a statement Johnson Controls says, "Today we announced that we will be closing the JCIM Kendallville plant, as there is not enough business to sustain the plant long-term, and there is excess manufacturing capacity. The facility, which produces interior components, is expected to close in the fall. We appreciate all of the hard work and dedication of the Kendallville JCIM team."
