ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Did you ever dream of becoming a police officer when you grew up? Here's your chance.
The Allen County Sheriff's Department is accepting applications. To apply, you must be at least 21 years old, have a high school diploma (or G.E.D.) and have a valid driver's license.
Applicants may be subject to a series of tests, including a written examination, physical agility test, character background investigation, polygraph, merit board interview, psychological evaluation, medical examination and drug screen.
Starting pay is $20.13 per hour.
A spokesperson for the department says recent discussions about the 2013 budget did not impact recruitment, because this process simply allows retiring or resigning officers to be replaced. The department's size will remain the same at 124 officers.
