FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - Joseph Kast has been found guilty of murder by a unanimous vote. Kast's sentencing is scheduled for January 11th.

The jury ruled Kast is responsible for the 2002 killing of 85-year old Claude Berkshire in the garage of his Juliette Avenue home.

The jury could have ruled: not guilty, not guilty on the reasoning of insanity, guilty with mental limitations, and guilty.

Berkshire's family was in the room as the verdict was read. Several family members shed tears and hugged one another. Kast showed no emotion, sitting still and staring ahead.

Closing arguments began Friday morning and once again spotlighted Kast's mental stability. The arguments included playing clips of Kast admitting to the crime in 2010, showing a hammer which was found at the scene and discussions about the credibility of four mental health experts called to the stand yesterday.

Kast has previously been charged with murder in Huntington County and is serving a 55 year sentence. His punishment in Allen County will be discussed January 11th.
