Lawmakers Seek Ways to Help Indiana Casinos

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) – Hoosier lawmakers have ideas to cut riverboat casino taxes.

The move would allow the floating gambling facilities to move onto land to help them face growing competition from facilities in other states.

State leaders think casino tax revenue could drop 15 percent over the next three years compared to collections from last year.

Many state lawmakers, though, say they aren't certain of this move because it could be perceived as expansion of Hoosier gambling.

New casinos in Illinois, Michigan and Ohio have provided recent competition.
