FORT WAYNE, Indiana (Indiana's NewsCenter)-There’s something remarkable going on at the downtown Allen County Library.
Sarah Blyth-Stephens is an installation artist from Cincinnati. For two weeks she's been creating a temporary art work in the library's Krull Gallery.
Blyth-Stephens creates freestanding, paper-thin walls out of poured plaster that form extremely fragile anthropomorphic images and shapes. The walls create an ethereal atmosphere that elicits varying reactions from viewers.
“It's a different way for people to experience art than to engage with a painting on the wall or even a piece of sculpture in the middle of the room,” says Blyth-Stephens. “It's something a little bit more enveloping. There’s a little bit of whimsy and wonder in it.”
Blyth-Stephens says she's grateful the library invited her to create an artwork for the people of Fort Wayne. The exhibit opens to the public tomorrow. The work will be destroyed once the exhibit closes.
