Fort Wayne Police say that a local doctor led them on a high-speed chase along I-69 Saturday.
According to court papers 46-year-old Charles Whalen of Fort Wayne was found driving his Chevy Equinox erratically on I-69 and reaching speeds up to 80-mph around 1 PM.
During the police’s 8-mile pursuit, the Equinox “violently’ sideswiped a concrete median and kept going.
Once officers put down “stop sticks” the Equinox finally slowed and came to a stop.
Whalen resisted the officers as they attempted to pull him from the driver’s seat to place him under arrest.
A blood test later confirmed Whalen had marijuana, methamphetamine and amphetamine in his system.
