FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- Long-time Komets announcer and local sports legend, Bob Chase, received the city's highest honor Thursday when he was presented with the Key To The Fort.
At a ceremony packed with family and friends, Mayor Tom Henry bestowed the WOWO radio veteran with the honor. City leaders say Chase deserves it for his commitment to the community.
"I've had a lot of great honors. But this is unreal," Chase says. "It's funny, sometimes you don't live long enough to accomplish a lot of things. Whether I've accomplished them through skill or just endurance, I don't know, but I have. And I just appreciate this so much."

Chase, 87, has announced Komets games for 60 years and counting. Though he retired from full-time work in 2009, Chase can still be found calling the action on the ice.
In October, the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame presented Chase with the Lester Patrick Trophy for outstanding service to hockey in the United States.
