MUNCIE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) -- The body of a DeKalb County teen who went missing Tuesday morning has been found in Muncie.
Alexander R. Rodecap, 16, of Auburn, was found dead around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 1200 block of Carson Street, about one block east from the campus of Ball State University.
The cause and manner of Rodecap's death has not been determined as of Tuesday night, according to the Auburn Police Department.
A search for Rodecap, a student at DeKalb High School, lasted most of the day after Rodecap disappeared, was believed to be armed and presumed to be a danger to himself.
Rodecap was last seen Monday night around 10:30, and reportedly left a suicide note saying he had a gun and planned to do himself harm.
News media outlets do not normally report suicides or attempts, but Rodecap's disappearance prompted DeKalb High School and DeKalb Middle School to be placed on modified lock downs, called shelter in place, on Tuesday morning.
Students at those schools still attended classes, but no one was allowed in or out of the buildings. A full lock down would have meant locked classroom doors, lights out and students being kept away from windows.
Sherry Grate, Ed.D., superintendent of DeKalb County Central United Schools, released a statement, reassuring parents that students were safe and secure.
Chief Martin McCoy of the Auburn Police Department says the parents of the DeKalb baseball player asked him to do everything possible to find their son, including releasing his name and photo to the media.
