INDIANA, (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Long-time Senator Richard Lugar says he has a solid conservative voting record that will help, not hurt him, in a hotly contested Republican primary election.
Lugar came to Fort Wayne Friday, just two and a half weeks before voters go to the polls.
State Treasurer Richard Mourdock is getting a lot of support from the far right as he challenges Lugar for the party nomination.
Lugar, who has run ads about out-of-state money backing Mourdock, denies that he's attacking Mourdock.
U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar/(R) Indiana: " Oh, I'm not going to campaign negatively against my opponent. I've tried to emphasize that I believe that I can help create more jobs, that I've already voted for the Ryan Plan, the House plan that cuts spending by $6.4 trillion."
Lugar, who would be in his mid-eighties at the end of another term in the Senate, says he's in good health, and that age should not be a factor in the race.
