CELINA, Ohio (www.incnow.tv) -- A man is behind bars and charged with felony assault after a 4-month-old baby was taken to the hospital with suspicious injuries.

Saturday evening the Mercer County Sheriff's Office received a call from Children's Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, in reference to suspicious injuries to a 4-month-old baby. The baby's mother had taken it to a local hospital and was later transferred to Dayton.

Police say the child was in the care of the mother's boyfriend, John Dziengelewski, 28, when the injuries were sustained. Dziengelewski told investigators that he had fallen while holding the baby but according to police, his account did not match the injuries to the child.

Dzienglewski was taken into custody and charged with felony assault. Bond has been set at $250,000.
