Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- 42-year-old Shannon Thomas is preliminarily charged with four felonies for allegedly beating his three children with a belt and a metal broom this weekend.

Court documents say Thomas ordered his 16-year old stepdaughter to clean up the house, but when she said it wasn't her turn to do it, he beat her with the broom until it broke.

Because she's four months pregnant, Thomas is charged with an upgraded felony.

Court documents say he also beat the other children with the broom and a belt.

The pregnant teen and the other children locked him out of the house, and then locked themselves in a bathroom when he came back in through a window.

Thomas has a court hearing Thursday.
