ORLAND, Ind. (21Alive) – One man is hospitalized after crashing into a tree.

Orland Fire rescue crews were called to 5055 N. 1100 E. in LaGrange County around 6:30 Saturday evening on reports of a vehicle crashing into a tree and the driver being ejected.

Authorities say Robert Johnson of Stroh, Ind. was transported to a Fort Wayne hospital, but his condition is unknown.

When paramedics arrived, they found the Johnson lying in a field approximately 30 ft. from his Ford Explorer. Authorities say Johnson’s SUV appeared to have been airborne when it struck a large tree near the road.

Authorities say they’re unsure what caused the accident, but note it was raining at the time.
