FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne man was in court to learn when he will stand trial for abandoning a special needs man.
Anthony Wayne Services fired Denzel Benson after he was arrested for allegedly locking 53-year-old Jerry White in a van for at least an hour during the heat wave we had in March.
Benson allegedly played basketball at Saint Joe Place Apartments while White sat in a wheelchair in the van on an 83-degree day. The engine was running.
A resident called police after finding white screaming in the van.
Benson's trial for felony neglect is scheduled to begin Oct. 24.
