Fort Wayne, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - The state's former governor, now Purdue’s president is breaking into his new role. Thursday Mitch Daniels met with students, faculty and staff at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne.
In the past year questions have been raised about IPFW’s relationship with Purdue. The idea of IPFW standing alone is also something that has been discussed by state lawmakers.
The lawmakers who raised those concerns are former republican colleagues of Daniels.
Thursday Daniels talked about those concerns with us and said his focus is to push forward and make sure the relationship between Purdue and IPFW is strong.
"I think that's a good an explanation for why I'm here today, and why I'll be back, as any. If there have been some miscommunications, or some sense that this campus wasn't fully appreciated, I want to try to understand that and address it," said Mitch Daniels, President, Purdue University.
Daniels Thursday visit to IPFW included an informal talk back session with students, faculty and staff. Students asked about affordability and asked Daniels how he plans to address that. Faculty wanted to know about the university’s future plans and how he plans to help them with funding programs.
Daniels emphasized that as long as the university is operating well and efficiently he can then advocate for funding for the institution.
