FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A Fort Wayne woman was sentenced to four years in prison for an extreme case of neglect of a dependent.
32-year-old Chandra Greene had been charged with three felony counts of neglect of a dependent.
She pleaded guilty to those counts last month and will serve one year in prison, with three years suspended.
Police say she hit her middle-school-aged son with a hammer on the head, among other places, because he "ate her food."
Greene's three children were living in their Winter Street home in "squalor" with no electricity or water, last spring.
The boy's injuries were discovered by child services during a check.
