PAULDING COUNTY, Oh. (www.incnow.tv) -- The Van Wert Patrol Post have closed US 24 at mile marker 9 due to a multi-vehicle accident resulting in a ethanol leak and one fatality.
The crash that occurred around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning, due to fog, forced police to shut down both the east-bound and west-bound lanes on US 24 near County Road 87.
The Ohio Highway Patrol has confirmed that at least 10 semi-trailers and two passenger vehicles were involved in the pile-up. The ethanol leak has been contained but a female passenger in one of the vehicles involved has been pronounced dead.
Police say the section of US 24 will remain closed for the at least the next 24 hours while crews clean up the ethanol spill.
