Huntington, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - A major investment in Huntington will allow garbage to be turned into fuel and other goods all while Nature's Fuel adds 180 new jobs.
The goal of the 350 million dollar investment at the company's Huntington plant is to reuse 100 percent of the waste. They will turn the trash into a variety of different fuel types and renewable building materials.
It's something their CEO says is a one of a king process not being done anywhere else in the nation.
"We're the first people to ever get an air permit and a solid waste processing permit to do as many things, to process as many things at a landfill as we will. Again our goal is 100 percent recycling so everything that comes in goes into a product that America can use the next day. It's either a renewable building product or a it's an ultra low sulfur, high octane, high cetane diesel or it's synthetic motor oil. So that's all that comes out of our plant," said Glenn Johnson, COO, Nature's Fuel.
"Anytime that you have an announcement of that magnitude, of the jobs and kind of investment in the city resources and in the county that's always really exciting," said Mayor Brooks Fetters, City of Huntington.
Nature's Fuel will be bringing on interns in addition to 180 new employees.
Construction for this project will start in the next few weeks. Over the next 7 months they're expected to do the hiring.
