Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- It can cost close to $100 to provide your child with the school supplies he or she needs.

Operation Backpack fired up on Monday to help take that burden off lower income families in the area.

McDonald's Restaurants across northeast Indiana will accept school supply donations through August 31st.

Families needing help can call United Way at 2-1-1.
