FORT WAYNE, Ind. (www.incnow.tv) - A meeting is held downtown that could begin the healing process for a proud Fort Wayne civil rights organization that just went through a messy power struggle.

The local chapter of the NAACP is looking for a fresh start, following a controversial election of new officers.

The Reverend Saharra Bledsoe is taking over as president, but she wasn't the first choice of voting members.

The previous president, Paulette Nellems, won re-election to the post in November, but Bledsoe and others filed formal complaints about how that first election was conducted, resulting in a "do over" election in late December.

Bledsoe won that contest.

Bledsoe and about 30 other chapter officers were set to be sworn-in at a formal ceremony Thursday evening at the main branch of the Allen County Library downtown.

She was also expected to lay out a nine-point platform on how she intends to lead the local chapter going forward.

The past president, Paulette Nellems, called the follow-up election, "illegitimate", saying an organization known for fighting injustice, now seems to be promoting injustice.
