WASHINGTON (Indiana's NewsCenter) - With the election less than a week away, new signs that Indiana Congressman Mike Pence could run for President in 2012 or Governor.

According to reports, the sixth district representative is considering stepping down from his leadership post in the GOP.

Pence would not give up his seat, just his spot in the House Republican hierarchy.

Soures say he's expected to tell he's colleagues he cannot commit to that position, unless he can stay through 2012.

Pence was the winner of the Presidential Poll at last month's "Values Voter Summit."

But Pence's spokesman would not comment about a possible run.

He said, "This week alone Mike Pence has campaigned for house candidates in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Florida, and Indiana.

"His sole focus remains on winning back the majority in Congress, and believes that speculating about who will occupy what leadership position in the next congress is 'looking past the playoffs' and out of place."

Experts say other Republicans considering running for President have consistently told reporters they won't focus on 2012 until the midterms elections are over.
