Fort Wayne, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A truck carrying pigs closed-down the north-bound lane of I-69 when one of its gates opened and several of the pigs got out.

It happened along I-69 near the Illinois Road exit.

Police responded to the call just before 3 a.m. Friday.

By the time police got there some of the pigs had already escaped.

Police and animal control help round up the pigs.

Unfortunately some of the pigs were injured and had to be put-down.

Police say they'll donate those pigs to a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, or food bank.
