FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Calling all pirates! Crazy Pinz' is having a grand opening for its new, pirate-themed laser tag arena on Friday, August 10.
For the past three months, Crazy Pinz employees have been hard at work demolishing several of the facility's bowling lanes to make room for a 4,300 sq. ft. laser tag arena.
Collin Kerschner, Director of Sales and Marketing at Crazy Pinz, says fewer customers come to bowl during the summer months, and a new laser tag arena brings a unique form of entertainment to the Fort Wayne area.
Instead of a competition-focused arena like some other local laser tag facilities, Kerschner says Crazy Pinz' Pirate's Cove will offer a more entertainment based experience.
Officials with Crazy Pinz brought in set designers from Disney to help with the arena's special effects. Kids and adults of all ages will enjoy climbing inside the two-story pirate ship and watching cannons fire smoke. The entire experience is centered around pirates and even incorporates a comedic video of a pirate explaining how to play the game.
"We're trying to create a Disney-like atmosphere in here," says Kerschner. "We're also including something called archery tag, which is a game you play with bows and arrows. It's very similar to laser tag. That's also something that they offer in Disney right now."
In an adjoining room, there is also a laser maze. People can try to beat the clock as they duck and dart under laser beams.
Lazer tag games will usually be priced at $5.95 for a 15 minute game. Group rates and all-day wrist bands will also be available.
However, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. on Friday, August 10, everyone can play for free! There are lots of special events planned for the grand opening of Pirate's Cove, so bring the whole family out for a new and exciting adventure in the Summit City!
