LAGRANGE, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – The Indiana State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for desecrating and destructing numerous tombstones in a rural LaGrange County cemetery causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Officials say sometime in the early hours between December 4th and December 5th, someone entered the Pretty Prairie Cemetery on County Road 475 E and 750 N in rural Howe.
The vandals knocked over several tombstones. Some of the vandalized headstones dated back to the 1800's. One of the headstones had been carried out to the roadway where it was dropped and smashed.
Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to call either the Indiana State Police at (800) 552-0976, the LaGrange County Sheriff Department at (260) 463-7491 or Crime Stoppers (800) 288-STOP (7867). Anonymous tips will be accepted.
