BUNKER HILL, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- Miami Correctional Facility is still on lock-down after a prisoner escaped and was then caught early Saturday morning.
Around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Donald Sorrell escaped from Miami Correctional Facility. Sorrell did not get too far and was caught by local law enforcement and returned to MCF.
Sorrell is classified and housed as a Medium Security offender based on his committing offense, length of sentence, and prior criminal history. This morning he was transported to Westville Correctional Facility’s Maximum Control Unit.
Sorrell is currently serving a twenty year sentence on five counts of Robbery from Hendricks County with an earliest projected release date of August 16, 2018 and a maximum release date of 2028.
The facility is currently still on lock-down. Indiana Department of Correction Internal Affairs and Indiana State Police are investigating the escape.
