WASHINGTON, DC (21Alive) -- Indiana's Third District Representative Marlin Stutzman has called for the creation of new jobs and further economic growth in 2014.
Stutzman, who gave the national Republican Address this week, criticized the lack of job creation in the country. He pointed out that nearly 350,000 Americans stopped looking for work last month due to jobs not being available. He lauded the House of Representatives efforts to pass job creation bills, but criticized Senate Democrats for sitting and stalling on those bills.
One of those bills, the Offshore Energy and Jobs Act is contentious with Democratic Senators from Atlantic Coastal States that don't want oil drilling on the Atlantic shore or have environmental concerns.
Stutzman also took aim at the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as "Obama Care", asserting that many Americans have lost their health insurance due to the new law and that this increases the need for new jobs to be created.
The opportunity to give the weekly national address raises the area Congressman's national profile within the House of Representatives where it can be easy to be lost in the shuffle.
