MARION, IN (Indiana's News Center)--A robbery suspect, armed with a sawed-off shotgun is dead after firing upon Marion Police Officers late Saturday night.
Indiana State Police say the suspect entered the Dollar General Store on Baldwin Avenue in Marion around 9:45pm and demanded money from the clerk who was counting the night's receipts.
Another employee in the store heard what was taking place and called police.
Marion Police Officers enter the store and the suspect ran out the back door where he was confronted by additional officers.
Police say the suspect pointed the gun at the officers and began firing.
That is when two Marion Police officers returned fire, and struck the suspect numerous times.
The name of the suspect has not been released at this time.
