INDIANA (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Governor Mitch Daniels has awarded Fort Wayne businessman and philanthropist Ian Rolland with the state's highest honor.

Daniels presented the Summit City native and former-Chairman and CEO of Lincoln National with the Sachem Award.

Daniels called Rolland "one of the great citizens in recent Indiana history," citing his creation of thousands of jobs, leadership in civic causes and a champion of the environment.

Rolland will receive a specially-designed sculpture that captures the Native American heritage of the Sachem, a group of civic leaders who promote the state's economy and culture.
