Warsaw, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – A Warsaw man was rescued from a burning home on Chapman Lake over the weekend.

Police and fire personnel responded to the 1300 block of Chapman Lake Drive just after 11 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a house fire with a person still inside.

An off-duty Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy was first on the scene and found the resident, Michael Fremault, just inside the front door. The deputy then chased Fremault up the stairs to the second floor and dragged him back down.

Fremault was hospitalized for smoke inhalation. He was later medically cleared and transported by officers to the Bowen Center for a 72 hour mental evaluation after confirming that he wished to commit suicide.
