Fort Wayne police have arrested a city man for allegedly shooting his cousin in the face.

18-year-old Quantdre Mersier is preliminarily charged with criminal recklessness, after police say he told them he accidentally shot his cousin, Timothy Cotton.

The men were in Cotton's living room at the "East Central Towers and Gardens apartment complex" on Washington Boulevard just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to our partner in news, the Journal Gazette, Mersier allegedly told police he aimed what he thought was an unloaded a .38 caliber gun at Cotton and accidentally pulled the trigger.

Cotton was shot in the face and was rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
