FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) -- A neighborhood on Fort Wayne’s north side is on alert after multiple break ins. Police say garage door openers are being taken and used to get inside.

The homes that have been robbed are in a neighborhood near Coliseum and Sherman Boulevard.Fort Wayne Police are investigating three break ins in that area, but warn more could happen because at least seven garage door openers have been stolen.

Police say the openers are being taken from cars parked outside.

“This garage door remote control is almost like leaving the key to your home in that vehicle," said Raquel Foster, Public Information Officer, Fort Wayne Police.

With the recent rash of break ins police say it's best for home owners to take their garage openers inside with them.
