UNDATED (21Alive) --- A powerful low pressure system and leading cold front with a history of producing tornadoes pushed through Indiana, damaging homes and businesses primarily in western and southern Indiana.
The worst of the weather that spawned more than 50 tornadoes Sunday however bypassed the Fort Wayne metro area as the line weakened as it moved northeastward. Around here, we had some trees down, knocked fences down, snapped some power lines but thankfully no reports of injuries or deaths in Northeast Indiana.
But this storm system caused heavy damage in central Illinois, damaging homes ansd businesses in East Peoria, Rockford and Washington, just northeast of Peoria. The strength of the storm and high winds - as much as 80 miles per hour - put everyone around here on high alert.
Below, is a chronology of the storms that swept through Indiana on Sunday afternoon.
Now, we await a cool down in the next several days, and some areas along Lake Michigan may even see lake effect snows in the next 48 hours!
