Fort Wayne, IN (Indiana’s NewsCenter) – Officials with the Kroger and Scott's store on N. Anthony issue an update on the store recently closed due to structural problems.

Their update? There is no update.

According to Central Division Public Affairs Manager John Elliott, “We have not yet made a final decision regarding required structural repairs as we await additional information from engineers and other professionals. Whether the store on North Anthony is able to reopen or not, no Kroger associates in the Fort Wayne region will lose their jobs as a result. All associates from the North Anthony store have been temporarily reassigned to other locations. All perishable food has been safely moved to nearby Kroger or Scott’s locations. Some non-perishable food also has been transferred by Kroger or our vendor partners under the supervision of engineering and safety personnel. We hope to reach a decision regarding the building itself by the end of next week.”

____Store officials say they'll fully assess the situation and agree to a safe and complete plan of action on the building. Officials told Indiana’s NewsCenter they are not sure of the full extent of the structural problem, but inspectors say something's wrong with the roof.

The pharmacy, located in an adjacent building, will remain open. This includes the health and beauty, and liquor departments.

The building itself is 62-years-old and the store closed sometime Thursday morning.

During the store closure, employees from the location will be assigned to work in other Kroger and Scott’s stores around Fort Wayne.

Officials would like to remind shoppers that the store on N. Clinton is fully staffed and is ready to serve all customers.
