Huntington, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - A school project turns into devastation for a Huntington family after a teacher threw out irreplaceable family photos.
The project was part of a language arts class at Crestview Middle School. The assignment was intended to introduce the students at the start of the new school year. They all created a timeline of their lives.
The students used baby photos and pictures with loved ones who have passed in their projects. For many of the students in the classes those pictures are now gone and can’t be replaced.
“It’s really almost kind of depressing, and it’s just really sad that you can’t get those back and especially family relatives that have died you can’t have them come back either so it’s really sad,” said Jana Krueger, 8th grader who lost class project.
Jana says about 80% of her class lost their projects.
The Huntington County School District’s superintendent told INC the teacher is in her first year. He says she gave students a few days to pick their projects up before they were thrown out. He described this as an unfortunate situation and says the teacher feels very bad about the families losing the photos.
