It's already been an aggressive campaign for the Fort Wayne City Clerk's office and a post on Twitter is adding more fuel to the fire.
Democrat party spokesman Kevin Knuth released a Twitter post from Zach Bonahoom's account dated May 13th that reads:
[saw parking Nazi on the corner, so I quickly went and fed every meter on the block. got the stink eye but it felt so good! ;)]
Knuth says the tweet is especially inappropriate given that the City Clerk is responsible for the parking enforcement department, while Bonahoom gave a very different take on the post.
"Zach wants to become City Clerk and the very employees that he would manage, he is referring to as Nazi's. It shows incredibly poor judgment on his part and he needs to apologize to those employees immediately", said Knuth.
Bonahoom responded by saying:
"the term parking Nazi is used so loosely downtown, that tells me we have a problem, we need to lighten up on the enforcement a little bit, as the 3 consultants that we paid $75,000 suggested. If we're going to nitpick every little thing that each other says, we should go back and see how many times that Sandy Kennedy has announced her retirement in the last 8 years".
