VALPARAISO, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - The suspect in Valparaiso hostage situation died Friday night at a hospital after shooting himself during the standoff.
Ten hostages inside an insurance building were freed before the unindentified gunman shot himself.
One woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries; though police say it was not a gunshot wound.
Police say the man went to the building, because someone there owed him money. When the man discovered the person was not there, police say the 7-hour hostage situation started.
SWAT officers did exchange gunfire with the suspect during the standoff, though no other injuries have been reported.
