Warsaw Couple Admits to Armed Robbery

Kosciusko County, Ind. (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - South Whitley police arrested a Warsaw couple for having suspended licenses but later discovered they were involved in an armed robbery.

Friday evening, officers located a stopped van just outside of South Whitley. When officers approached the van they discovered the driver, Christopher Alan Gressley, 30, and Anita Lynn Moore, 28, both of Warsaw, without valid driver’s licenses. Two small children in the back of the van were turned over to child protective services because they appeared to have been neglected. During the inventory of the van, officers located synthetic marijuana and devices used to smoke the substance. Both Gressley and Moore were then transported to Whitley County Jail.

Information was obtained Saturday which suggested Gressley and Moore might have been involved in an armed robbery at the Leesburg Freedom Express convenience store, Friday afternoon.

The knife in Gressley's possession at the time of his arrest is believed to be the weapon used during the alleged gas station hold-up.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s detectives say Gressley and Moore confessed to their involvement in the Leesburg hold-up during an interview at the Whitley County jail. Both Gressley and Moore are being held on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent, possession of a controlled substance/synthetic cannabinoid, and possession of paraphernalia. Gressley was also charged with driving while suspended and currently has a bond of $27,500. Moore has a bond of $24,000. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s detectives have also placed a hold on the couple as preliminary charges of felony robbery while armed with a deadly weapon are being issued by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
