Water & Heating Issues Make More Trouble For Area Schools

January 9, 2014 Updated Jan 9, 2014 at 3:25 PM EDT

COLUMBIA CITY, Ind. (21Alive) -- Clean up and repairs have been made after a 6-inch water main broke at Columbia City High School Wednesday.

This is the 4th flood in the last couple of years and crews have got clean-up down to a science according to Whitley County Consolidated School Superintendent, Dr. Patricia O'Connor.

WCCS wasn't the only school corporation to face additional challenges during the winter storm that came through the northern part of Indiana earlier this week.

Fort Wayne Community Schools closed schools Thursday due to 10 schools battling heating and/or water issues. A spokesperson also said that residential roads along bus routes were not clear for the buses to be able to operate normally.
