(Fort Wayne, IN) -- Since it's not always necessary to toss out that old set, local government officials are encouraging you to dispose with caution.

But the city of Fort Wayne and officials with Allen County government are still bracing for residents' misconceptions.

That's why County Solid Waste Director Tony Burrus has a message for you.

Tony Burrus\Allen County Solid Waste Manager: " I certainly, like everyone else, would like to just go out and get, you know, the next big screen T-V, bigger and better whatever. However, if you have a very useable set, why, why do that?"

Another reason to discourage set disposals... freeing up room in our landfills.
