LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) - A South Bend, Indiana, company says it has suffered tens of millions of dollars in losses because of a Chinese company's use of counterfeit trademarks.
The owner of the Chinese company has been arrested at Heathrow
Airport in London after British autorities received a tip that he was on a flight from Hong Kong. The man, 52-year-old Yuan Hongwei also has been wanted for more than a year in Louisiana following a sting operation in Livingston Parish.
Yuan owns Hunan Magic Power Industrial Company that has been the focus of trademark complaints for selling cleaning, lubricant, adhesive and other products using the brand name of ABRO Industries.
ABRO Industries headquarters are in South Bend, and company
president Peter Baranay says it is not connected with Yuan or Hunan.
