Hundreds of New Jobs Coming to Indiana Thanks to Telecom Deregulation

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) - AT&T is creating 475 service technician
jobs in Indiana. The new workers will install and upgrade the company's fiber-optic network to provide a cable TV-style service
to homes.

AT&T says many of the employees for these positions have already
been hired during the past year.

The technicians will work with the company's U-verse service, with transmits television signals over a broadband Internet connection, in competition with cable and satellite services.

AT&T Indiana President George Fleetwood and Governor Mitch
Daniels announced the plan in Anderson yesterday.

AT&T has expanded in Indiana since the General Assembly passed
legislation last year making it easier for traditional telephone companies to compete with cable companies.
