FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Fort Wayne has hired an Illinois firm for $72,000, to consult their social media efforts in implementing social media like Twitter and Facebook into city government.
But Allen County Council President Paula Hughes says the mayor could have done this for free.
Hughes says, “He didn't use local consultants. He didn't consider that he might be able to do it for free and) he didn't ask the county for advice. The county has a number of social media accounts in place. We've been doing it for two and a half years and it didn't cross the Mayor's mind to just kinda look across the hall and see what we could offer.”
Fort Wayne's Social Media Contract expires in January.
Twitter and Facebook accounts should be up in the next few weeks.
