INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter) --- Now you can download an app that let's you check on Indiana businesses right from the Secretary of State's computerized records using your mobile device's web browser.

The announcement was made today by Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita.

Here's the state's press release:

INDIANAPOLIS (Dec. 27, 2010) – Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita announced today the recent launch of a new, mobile application allowing users to look up a corporation’s address, registered agent, corporate officers and view an up-to-date list of documents filed by the company.

“We are continuing to take significant steps to harness the power of technology and use it to increase accessibility and continually improve the customer’s experience,” Rokita said. “This mobile application adds to the growing list of additional resources the Business Services Division has placed online to alleviate the antiquated process of filing and searching through mounds of paper work.”

Using an Internet enabled cell phone, individuals can visit the Secretary of State’s mobile website – www.sos.IN.gov – and click on “Business Search” to easily find a business’ address, registered agent, corporate officers and quickly view which documents were filed by the company. The mobile site will also enable individuals to view complete business filings by navigating them from the mobile site to the full HTML website.

This latest technology initiative adds to the long list of advancement made by the Business Services Division of the Secretary of State’s office over the past eight years, including:

Enabling businesses to file entity reports online;
Developing a web portal for all notaries to conduct their transactions with the state;
Allowing businesses to file seven different originating documents through the division’s website; and
Removing an additional $1 fee for online access to entity information along with reducing enhanced access fees for several of the division’s services.

In May, the Business Services Division was honored by the International Association of Commercial Administrators for its efforts to make available online more than 6.5 million images of corporate documents, business filings and other registrations on file with the office. The images are accessible instantly, 24 hours a day and free of charge through the online portal found at www.sos.IN.gov/business."
