UNDATED (Indiana's NewsCenter) - Federal officials say there has been a double-digit drop in the number of arrests along the U.S. border with Mexico.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says a 17-percent drop in arrests along the U.S. border with Mexico. Shows heightened enforcement is working.
There are more than 1,200 Border Patrol agents and National Guard troops stationed throughout the area.
However, she also says the weakened American economy is attracting fewer immigrants looking for work.
