TOULOUSE, France (Indiana’s NewsCenter) - Reports say 23-year-old terrorist gunman Mohammed Merah is dead after a more than 30 hour police standoff.

French officials say that Mohamed Merah came out of his bathroom, firing his guns madly into the air until he jumped from his apartment window.

Two police commandos were wounded from Merah’s storm of gunshots.

French Special Forces surrounded Merah early on Wednesday after he had confessed to police negotiators that he had killed three soldiers as well as three Jewish children and a rabbi at a school.

Merah said he wanted to avenge the deaths of Palestinian children and French army involvement in Afghanistan.

Police say that after hours of no activity from Merah they wanted to review the situation and see if he had fallen asleep. Police used a video probe to inspect the bathroom at which point Merah exited in a suicidal rage.
