FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana's News Center)---The Collings Foundation operates the Wings of Freedom Tour. A group of World War II airplanes flown throughout the United States for up to ten months of the year.
Visitors can tour the B-17 and B-24 bombers and even go for a ride.
The planes are the exact same type as the ones flown in Europe during World War II.
For many, this visit is like re-living history.
One passenger on board the B-24 wanted to know what his late Uncle felt like when on the plane.
Steve Butler: " The more I've been able to learn about what my uncle went through and the conditions they flew in and all they had to put up with. I just wanted to experience just this much of that."
The planes will be on display Tuesday and Wednesday at the Dekalb County Airport in Auburn.
