FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Indiana's NewsCenter)- Classes could soon be more difficult in Fort Wayne's high schools.
On Monday officials from Fort Wayne Community Schools met with parents to dicuss the "reinvention" of the high school curriculum.
The four year plan will strengthen core classes to make them more rigorous.
Eventually each high school will be home to a program of study. For example, North Side HIgh School will be home to the Global Studies and World Languages Program. The school will put an emphasis on foreign language, culture and politics.
Other programs of study include engineering, business and health sciences.
Students could transfer from one school to another in order to take part in the programs of study.
Officials say the "reinvention" will better prepare students in the Summit City to handle "real world" challenges.
The changes will begin in 2009, with completion scheduled for 2013.
Information meetings for parents are scheduled throughout December.
Tuesday Dec. 2- 6p.m., Elmhurst High School
Thursday Dec. 4- 6p.m., Wayne High School
Tuesday Dec. 9- 6p.m., Northrop High School
Wednesday Dec. 10- 6p.m. South Side High School
Thursday Dec. 11-6p.m. Snider High School
