WASHINGTON (www.incnow.tv) - John Kerry has successfully won confirmation as U.S. Secretary of State.
The U.S. Senate approved Kerry's appointment, 94 to 3, on Tuesday afternoon. The three nay votes were Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, and and Sen. Jim Inhoffe, R-Okla.
Earlier in the day, Kerry, 69, won approval of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which the five-term Democratic senator once chaired.
Kerry replaces Hillary Clinton, who stepped down as Secretary of State following President Obama's first term.
